(Edmonton) - The custodians, members of CUPE Local 1098, have negotiated 11% increases over the next two years. The new agreement, with the Northern Lights School Division (Bonnyville) was recently ratified. The employer has also agreed to pay 100% of the premiums for Alberta Health Care and the employees Extended Health Care Plan as well as to pay 90% of the Long Term Disability premiums.

“Our members are very pleased with the new agreement with the School Division,” said Roxanne Wells, CUPE negotiator. “This settlement recognizes the contribution our members make to education. There is this view that custodians are just cleaners, but they are much more than this. They help provide a stable secure learning environment for students.”
