Sisters and Brothers,

We are forwarding this information about an important rally on Monday. We’re hoping that you’ll find the time to attend and support these striking workers on their 8th week of a bitter strike.

It’s small Locals like Local 1287 that need the strong force of CUPE behind them to show the Employer how determined they are to get the respect they deserve!
Please show your support and solidarity by attending…

Who: 13 Striking Workers who perform critical program support, clerical and purchasing functions at the Niagara Institute branch of the Conference Board of Canada
When: On strike since June 7, 2004 (Now on strike for 9 weeks)
Why: On strike for fair wages. Employer’s last offer was well below Conference Board of Canada’s own economic forecast.
Where: Solidarity Rally at the Conference Board of Canada (Head Office), 255 Smythe road (corner of Smythe and Alta Vista), Ottawa, on Monday August 9th, 12:00 noon.

These 13 women will be picketing at this Head Office all day Monday and Tuesday morning so if you’re unable to attend the noon hour rally, please try to drop by while they’re here.
In solidarity,
