(Hamilton) CUPE Local 5167, the result of a recent merger between CUPE Locals 5 and 167, has elected a new executive.

Local 5167 now represents some 2,200 municipal workers with :

City of Hamilton; Region of Hamilton-Wentworth; Hamilton Airport; Macassa Lodge; PUMC; Royal Botanical Gardens; SPCA; Third Sector Recycling; Town of Flamborough and Wentworth Lodge.

CUPE members in the Towns of Dundas, Ancaster, Glanbrook and the City of Stoney Creek will also vote later this week on merging with Local 5167.

Results of the Local 5167 elections are as follows:

  • President - Gus Oliveira
  • 1st Vice-President - Vickie Houston
  • 2nd V-P - Carolyn Carter(acclaimed)
  • 3rd V-P - Chris Holland
  • 4th V-P - Ed Thomas (acclaimed)
  • Recording Secretary - Mary Lou Tanner (acclaimed)
  • Treasurer - Elizabeth Embleton

CUPE Local 5167 is now well positioned to represent the interests of municipal workers in the Hamilton area, as they head into the upcoming amalgamation.
