Montreal, Friday, December 15, 2000 In the wake of the decision by the Canadian Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) to regroup the bargaining units at TVA Inc. in Montreal, the 800 production workers, administrative and technical support and information workers recently elected Mr. Ra006c Leboeuf as president of Local 687 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE-QFL).

A technician by trade, Mr. Leboeuf has worked for TVA for more than 16 years. I believe that the regrouping of our old bargaining units will give us bargaining expertise and substantial bargaining clout vis–0076is the employer, especially at a time when the communications sector is in such turmoil, said Mr. Leboeuf.

We are currently in the process of consolidating our union structure, notably in preparation for collective bargaining of the four collective agreements at TVA, which have all expired. Our priorities are therefore consultation with and mobilization of our membership, concluded the union president.
