FREDERICTON – A tentative agreement has been reached between the Home Support Workers, CUPE Local 4598, and the Red Cross.

We are pleased with the tentative agreement reached today. It has been a long haul for this group of women on strike since August 18. The negotiating committee is satisfied with the progress made to improve wages and working conditions of the Home Support Workers, and will recommend acceptance to their members,” said Louise Thibodeau, CUPE Representative.

The Red Cross Home Support Workers really appreciate the support they received during the strike. “Their clients and the communities have been very supportive to their cause and they want to thank them,” said Thibodeau.

The members of Local 4598 will vote on the tentative agreement as soon as possible.

CUPE Local 4598 represents 300 Home Support Workers in Richibucto, Miramichi, Acadian Peninsula, Bathurst, Campbellton, Edmundston and Grand Falls.
