Advertising sales representatives - members of CUPE Local 687 - are negotiating to establish their first collective agreement with TVA Publications in Quebec. However, the negotiations with TVA Publications are now at a standstill and union members have asked the Minister of Labour to appoint a conciliator.

Talks with the employer began last May, when the union first tabled proposals. Since then, discussions between the parties have amounted to scheduled meetings that never happened. Finally, at a meeting scheduled for Tuesday, September 14, the employer was still not ready to respond to the union proposals.

In 2009, the Commission des relations du travail du Québec (Quebec Labour Relations Board) authorized CUPE to represent the TVA Publications advertising sales reps who sell ads for Quebecor Media’s magazines. The dozen advertising sales reps are part of the same local union (CUPE 687) as the 800 employees of TVA-Montréal.
