TORONTO Terri Brown, the new President of the National Action Committee on the Status of Women and Ethel LaValley, Secretary-Treasurer of the Ontario Federation of Labour will address a rally for four striking CUPE Locals tomorrow, Wednesday August 9, at noon.

The rally takes place at Victoria Day Care Services, 539 Jarvis Street, Toronto at noon.

Twenty five CUPE Local 2563 members at Victoria Day Care Services have been on strike since June 29. The workers have been attempting to secure a new contract for two years. They have had no wage increase in seven years and the employer is now trying to eliminate their pension plan.

The striking workers will link up with members from three other striking CUPE locals at the rally:

  • CUPE Local 3798.1 Madison Avenue Housing and Support Services;

  • CUPE Local 2190 Catholic Childrens Aid Society; and,

  • CUPE Local 3261 the University of Toronto Bookstore.
