Five CUPE Local 454 members who work for the Delta Museum and Archives in Delta, B.C. are moving into their ninth week on the picket line. The group has been fighting for fair treatment over wages and benefits. While the $50,000 per year museum director recently received a more than 6% pay increase, the Museum and Archives Board is insisting that CUPE members be happy with a 1% increase.

The Delta Mayor and Council are refusing to acknowledge any responsibility for the strike even though the organization is fully funded by an operating grant from the City. With the Museum Board Chair refusing to answer her telephone and a generally apathetic media response, the striking CUPE members would appreciate some messages of support. The local’s address is CUPE Local 454, #1 - 4803 Haviland, Delta, B.C. V4K 2V6.
