The strike that was to be held by some 80 municipal employees on Thursday, January 31, may be called off. The Town submitted new offers during a bargaining session held earlier today.

A general meeting will be held tomorrow, at the end of the day, and members of Local 1054 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE-QFL) will be asked to vote on these offers.

We cannot predict the results of the vote,” said Jean-Pierre Roy, union representative. “The strike notice is still in effect. Tomorrow, after the meeting, we will decide if the strike notice should be withdrawn.”
