Montra006c, Wednesday, November 13, 2002 at 9:10 p.m. – Some 4,200 blue collar workers attending a general meeting this evening voted 93.6% in favour of their bargaining committee’s recommendations. These involve the application of pressure tactics when useful and necessary, including a general strike at the right moment. The Committee’s objectives are to harmonize working conditions and conclude a new collective agreement. With this vote, the blue collar workers rejected the bargaining structure recently proposed by the City’s management.

The union representatives consider that the mandate assigned to the bargaining committee demonstrates the gravity of the situation and hope that their message will be heard by the municipal administration.
