REGINA: A coalition of unions, community groups and activists will hold a rally in support of public health care at the Saskatchewan legislature over the noon hour on May 15, National Medicare Day.

The rally in Regina will be part of a nation-wide series of actions being organized to raise awareness of the growing threat poised by for-profit health care. Giant ribbons will be wrapped around every legislative building in Canada to symbolize support for Medicare.

Speakers at the rally will include: Premier Lorne Calvert, Dr. Margaret Mahood, and Barb Byers, president of the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour. The Raging Grannies and Radical Cheerleaders will also be present at the rally.

The rally is being sponsored by the Saskatchewan Health Coalition, the Council of Canadians, the SFL and other provincial unions.
