P3 Alert ran a story in September 2005 about the poor performance of Maximus in British Columbia. The company was hired to run two of the province’s health insurance programs, the Medical Services Plan and PharmaCare.

Maximus failed to meet contractual targets for prompt customer service for the sixth consecutive month in September. This means that since Maximus took over the plans in April 2005, it has been unable to fulfill its contractual obligations.

B.C.’s Health Minister George Abbott calls the missed targets “growing pains.”
