CUPE 1112, representing teaching assistants with the Pembina Trails School Board, welcomed 200 new members as the result of an amalgamation vote.

A majority of members in both CUPE 1112 and an independent association chose CUPE to represent them in a vote ordered by the labour board in February.

Local President Pat Lloyd says, We want to welcome the new members to CUPE. Now we have to make sure they feel welcome and that they get all the benefits of CUPE membership.

Members of CUPE 3821, representing clerical staff with the board, however, will now be members of the independent association as CUPE lost that vote.
