It was CUPE’s biggest test yet in the health care representation votes in Manitoba and our dedicated campaign team passed with flying colours.

In the vote to determine the support workers’ union in Brandon, the biggest region to vote to date, CUPE defeated its rival union 350-291 for its fourth straight win. As a result of the votes, CUPE has experienced a net gain of 500 members in health care votes throughout the province.

In a piece of especially good news, the more than 850 workers in Brandon used to include about 150 non-union workers. Now, Brandon’s 100 per cent union - and 100 per cent CUPE.

But the hard-working member activists and staff won’t have any time to rest on their laurels as there are three more votes to go.
