The weekend of June 18-20 was successful for more than 22,000 of our Quebec members, with the signing of four agreements in principle to be submitted for approval in the coming weeks.
 
By the evening on Friday, June 18, an agreement was reached on the collective agreement for nearly 1,000 employees of TELUS Communications (Québec) Inc., members of CUPE 5044. If accepted, the new labour contract will be in effect until December 21, 2014. The key issues included wages and subcontracting.
 
At noon on Saturday, June 19, the Union of TVA Employees (CUPE 687) signed an agreement in principle. Their previous labour contract had expired on December 31, 2009. CUPE 687 has about 800 TVA Montreal employees.
 
On Sunday afternoon, June 20, the Fédération des travailleurs et travailleuses du Québec (FTQ) announced the signing of a sectoral agreement involving 20,000 CUPE members working in health and social services within our Conseil Provincial des Affaires Sociales (CPAS – Provincial Council on Social Affairs). At the same time, the FTQ announced another agreement relating to our 450 support staff members in the college sector (CUPE).
