Late Tuesday afternoon the Labour Relations Board issued its written decision concerning expanded seniority rights for displaced health care workers. This follows an oral decision delivered Friday.

The Board’s ruling comes after HEU and other unions applied to provide expanded rights for workers facing displacement under the severely restricted provisions of Bill 29.

The decision means that skilled and experienced health care workers have broader opportunities to stay employed in B.C.’s health care system.

The full written decision can be downloaded from heu.org/seniority.pdf and a newsletter containing the answers to frequently asked questions about the ruling will be made available as soon as possible.
