CALGARY – Over 80 employees of Monterey Place, a Calgary long-term care facility, have voted to join the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE).

CUPE Regional Director Dianne Wyntjes said the employees include general service staff, auxiliary nursing and registered nursing staff.

Over two-thirds of the employees voted to join the union in a labour board vote counted this week.

CUPE represents over 3,000 long-term care employees in Alberta, and is the largest union of health care workers in Canada.
