PEMBROKE Paramedics serving Renfrew County will hold a news conference tomorrow, Tuesday, August 17th, at 10:00 am, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 170 Ellis Street, in Pembroke, to announce collective action aimed at saving their jobs.

The 85 paramedics, represented by Local 1502 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), are being forced to reapply for their jobs by Renfrew County, as it assumes direct management of paramedic and land ambulance services in the area. Currently, the paramedics are employed under contract by the Pembroke General Hospital. They have all received termination notices.
