More than 5,000 unionists including many CUPE members, demonstrated against the policies of Ontario’s Harris government on Monday June 8 by walking down the main street of Kingston and setting up picket lines throughout the city.

Hard by local organizers ensured that the protest was well organized and peaceful.

Pickets shut down Kingston Transit, the City Hall and some other municipal buildings with the support of city council, which had earlier endorsed the protest.

Postal service was also disrupted unexpectedly after pickets blocked post offices in the City.

This was the 11th Day of Protest.
