(Peterborough) The union representing some 1,200 school board workers at the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board says some progress has been made in bargaining, but several outstanding issues remain.

CUPE Local 5555 president Charlotte Monardo says, Talks resumed and continued throughout the week of October 2. This employer has made a commitment to a negotiated settlement and we are holding them to that.

Outstanding issues include: Wage Harmonization, Salary Increases, Joint Job Evaluation/Pay Equity, Layoff and Recall, Vacation,

Negotiations between the KPRDSB and CUPE Local 5555 will resume November 6th. The union has requested a No Board report from the Ministry of Labour. The next step is mediation on all outstanding issues. This also establishes a legal strike deadline of November 10.

Says Monardo, Both sides are diligently working toward an agreement to avoid a strike.
