Locked out Journal de Québec journalist Marc Fortier addressed the opening session of the CUPE Nova Scotia division convention Apr. 7. His raw emotional presentation brought delegates to tears and to their feet repeatedly as they heard the agonizing story of these locked-out workers who are standing up to media giant Quebecor/Sun Media.

Fortier characterized the Journal de Québec workers struggle as a “drop
of water in a savage sea,” in reference to the battle that Canadian workers - public and private sectors - are waging against singular corporate interests.

Fortier concluded his remarks by thanking CUPE members for their ongoing moral and financial support. “There is incredible strength in numbers when members show their willingness to demonstrate such solidarity.”
