CUPE’s Irene Harris has been elected the new Executive Vice-President of the Ontario Federation of Labour. Sister Harris becomes one of three full-time officers of the Federation, following elections at the OFL’s biennial convention in Toronto this week.

Joining Sister Harris on the OLF’s Executive Board will be Ontario Division President Sid Ryan and Julie Davis, the Ontario Regional Director, who were elected by the CUPE caucus at the convention.

CUPE also ran candidate Livingstone Holder for the OFL’s Visible Minority position, as well as Fred Loft for the Aboriginal Persons position and Gay Bell for the Gay/Lesbian Persons position.

Wayne Samuelson, a USWA member, defeated Paul Forder of the CAW for the position of OFL President. Ethel LaValley was acclaimed OFL Secretary-Treasurer.
