The theme for this years International Women’s Day is “Together in Courage” - Women Building, Visioning, Organizing and Celebrating.

Organizers invite Islanders to the following events:

  • Potluck - March 6th with CUSO partner, Alejandrina Ibanez from Bolivia. (location TBA)
  • Lecture - March 7th, 7:30 “Together in Courage” by Alejandrina Ibanez, Bolivian Indigenous Women’s leader - UPEI, Room 104 KC Irving Bldg
  • International Women’s Day Celebration, Thursday, March 8th, 7pm, Georgian Room, Charlottetown Hotel. Reception followed by a Round table discussion and a special ceremony honouring 6 Island women labour leaders:
    • Tammy Chaisson, International Union of Operating Engineers;
    • Margaret Duffy, PEI Nurses Union;
    • Seana Evans-Renaud, PEI Teacher’s Federation;
    • Donalda MacDonald, Canadian Union of Public Employees;
    • Mary MacNeil, Public Service Alliance of Canada;
    • Shelly Ward, Union of Public Sector Employees
