Register for CUPE’s 11th National Health and Safety ConferenceJun 18, 2012 03:31 PM
Ottawa Convention Centre, October 12 - 14
CUPE members will stand together to protect our health, communities and environment at the 11th National Health and Safety Conference, to be held October 12-14 in Ottawa.
- Register for the conference online (deadline is September 7)
CUPE members have been a driving force pushing to win fundamental health and safety rights over the years. But health and safety activists – like all trade unionists – are being challenged by the hostile, neo-liberal, corporate agenda that is determined to undermine our health and bleed our communities and natural environment for every penny of profit. This creates a broad range of new health issues for workers, particularly women. It makes workplace psychosocial and mental health problems worse. And, it wreaks havoc on our bruised and battle-scarred natural environment.
Our members’ activism and resiliency has always been our core strength. This conference will draw out this strength to confront today’s new challenges head on so that we can push back and claim new successes.
The conference will boast an all-star line-up of speakers and panellists who will engage participants in dynamic dialogue centred on the conference’s main topics, including CUPE members who work to provide healthy and safe workplaces and communities.
Delegates will also have ample opportunity to examine the issues affecting our workplaces, communities and environment in the conference workshops.
Most valuably, CUPE members from all across Canada will come together to share ideas, experiences and to highlight the valuable work done by CUPE to keep workers, the public and communities healthy and safe.
