VANCOUVER — In a move that signals a stepping-up of pressure on SFU administration, university support staff, members of CUPE 3338 have put up pickets at SFU’s downtown campus at Harbour Centre.

While the mall is not affected, other than the SFU bookstore all SFU programs are without support staff and students and faculty are being asked not to cross the picket lines.

“The students have been exceedingly supportive of our efforts,” said Lynne Fowler. “They know that any actions we do that affect their work are our last resort.”

Fowler indicates that action will continue to increase until the university indicates whether or not it will accept mediated arbitration.

Plans for future job actions will be announced on the local’s website www.cupe3338.bc.ca.
