HEU members hold information picket - Wednesday at Gorge Road Hospital Health care workers will hold an information picket this afternoon outside Gorge Road Hospital to raise the alarm about the future of the facility’s residents and workers.
Hospital Employees’ Union members from the hospital will be distributing information to the public outside the hospital from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13. Gorge Road Hospital is located at 63 Gorge Road East in Victoria.
Last week, the new Vancouver Island Health Authority confirmed that it would phase out the 267-bed Gorge Road Hospital. Local health care workers are asking where residents will go - and given recent legislation that strips experienced health workers of their employment security - who will take care of them.
