Gananoque, ON – A tentative deal between the Town of Gananoque and the union representing town workers was reached early Wednesday morning.

The workers, represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 1701, work in municipal services, recreation and utility services.  They have been without a contract since December 31, 2007, and voted last month to take strike action if necessary.

Amy Parker, CUPE National Representative for Local 1701, said the members will vote on the deal on Oct.27, at which point further details will be announced.
