Locals who could not otherwise afford to send delegates to this conference may apply for funding from the National Convention and National Events Assistance Fund.

Registration Limits

There are 403 seats available for the National Health Care Sector Meeting. You will be registered on a first-come, first-served basis under local and provincial caps as follows:

For locals with less than 100 members: maximum 1 seat
For locals with 100 to 500 members: maximum 2 seats
For locals with over 500 members: maximum 3 seats

Language

The meeting will be conducted in both official languages, French and English, with translation for plenary sessions and for small group discussion rooms where possible. To organize translation and meeting space, we need to better understand your language needs as soon as possible.

Day 1 Workshops: Sub-sector and occupational groups

During this sector meeting, participants will meet with others who work in the same type of workplace (sub-sector) and in the same type of jobs (occupational group). Please identify the sub-sector and occupational group you feel best describes your work.

Day 2 Workshops: Issues

You will have two workshops to choose from on the second day of the sector meeting. Below are possible workshop topics. We don’t have space to offer all of them, and we need your help to narrow the list. Please identify your top FOUR choices to help us finalize the workshop topics. When you arrive at the sector meeting, you will sign up for workshops from the final list.

Application for on-site child care

Registration for on-site child care is now closed.

At-Home Child Care

A subsidy is available to offset at-home child care costs to a maximum of $50 per day, per delegate.

Following the conference, local unions may claim reimbursement on behalf of its delegate(s) by completing the "at-home" application. The form must also be signed by the delegate and accompanied by an original receipt for the expense incurred.

Applications for this subsidy must be received by the National Secretary-Treasurer no later than December 15, 2010.

Guestroom rates are $129.00/night for moderate rooms, and $149.00/night for Fairmont, Deluxe, or Harbourview rooms, not including applicable taxes. Individuals should make their reservations through the Reservations Department at 1-800-441-1414, or through the dedicated event online booking site. Callers must identify themselves as being with the Canadian Union of Public Employees for the meeting of October 19-23, 2010.

All reservations must be made no later than September 28, 2010. After this date, there will be no guarantee on hotel availability and CUPE negotiated rates.
