The presence of the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) complete with a booth and information supporting strong municipalities has been a tremendous boost for labour at the 70th Federation of Canadian Municipalities. The CLC theme at the confernce, “Municipalities Matter” describes the importance that municipal infrastructure and services play in the lives of working Canadians.

During a visit to the CUPE site in the exhibit hall CLC president, Ken Georgetti wasted no words in highlighting the importance of labour’s collective presence at events like the FCM. “And CLC is proud to be working hand in hand with CUPE and other CLC partners to strengthen our presence and our mobilization efforts on the ground when it comes to labour’s impact in Canadian communities.

The CLC has also started a co-ordinated municipal campaign to help get more progressive candidates elected at the local level and build strong communities across Canada.
