TRACADIE-SHEILA, NB– The Emergency Medical Technicians of the Ambulances de la Péninsule de Tracadie-Sheila – the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 4657 have voted 100% in favor of a strike this afternoon.

“The main issue is the wages. We are asking for pay parity with the EMT’s working for the hospital services,” said Denis Losier, president of CUPE Local 4657

The EMTs of Tracadie-Sheila could go out on strike as early as tomorrow (Friday October 21) at 3:00pm.

CUPE Local 4657 represents 18 members. The EMTs have been trying to negotiate a collective agreement since April 2004.
