Final CUPE local at UVic signs collective agreement

Nov 2, 2012 10:12 PM CUPE 4163 has reached a tentative collective agreement with the University of Victoria. The deal is a no-concessions, four-year agreement with 0-0-2-2% wage increases. The agreement is retroactive to 2010 and includes no wage increases for the first two years under the provincial government's Net Zero Mandate. That mandate stipulated that public sector workers could get no wage increases for 2010 and 2011.

All-out strike set at SFU

Nov 2, 2012 11:12 AM Striking CUPE Local 3338 support workers have scheduled an all-out, all-campus withdrawal of services for Wednesday, Nov. 7. The union says picket lines will go up at the Burnaby Mountain, Surrey and downtown Vancouver campuses.

The 900 members of CUPE 951 represent office, technical and childcare workers, while CUPE 917 represents 600 food services, janitorial, trades, groundskeepers, security, and waste management staff.

In an unusual move, the employer helped out by closing the facilities and putting up notices that there would be no classes. The faculty association is also on side. CUPE and Royal Roads sign tentative deal
