Strengthening CUPE’s National Defence Fund will be a top priority for delegates this week. They’ll get the opportunity to debate recommendations from the National Executive Board intended to ensure the fund can meet the needs of CUPE members in an increasingly hostile environment – now and into the future.

Since our last convention in 1999, CUPE has been developing a strategy to make sure:

  • Every CUPE member who goes on strike is guaranteed strike pay.
  • CUPE’s National Defence Fund is fortified and long-term measures are taken to ensure it remains strong.

A task force travelled across the country seeking input. At its June meeting, the Board developed constitutional resolutions based on the results of these discussions. These can be found in the resolutions booklet in your convention kit.

Let’s send employers and governments a strong message – that when you take on CUPE you’re taking on the wrong union!
