HALIFAX The Halifax Regional School Board will unveil its Draft Budget tonight at 6:00 p.m. at the Board offices at 90 Alderney Drive in Dartmouth.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees (C.U.P.E.) along with the Nova Scotia Government Employees Union (N.S.G.E.U.) and the Nova Scotia Union of Public Employees (N.S.U.P.E.) will hold a Demonstration beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the School Board offices.

This protest is being planned to raise public awareness, to the drastic impact the budget cuts the Board is facing, will have on our children.

All services, such as libraries; education program assistants, who provide care to special needs students; student support workers; custodial and maintenance and secretarial staff, face major reductions.

CUPE, NSGEU and NSUPE are asking the Provincial Government to rethink its decision to cut funding to the Halifax Regional School Board in the amounts budgeted. These services are essential to the education of our children and will harm the future of this Province.
