The three strikes and one lockout currently underway across the country were the focus of an emotional presentation to delegates Tuesday.

They heard from representatives from Local 301, Blue Collar workers in Montreal, who are staging one-day, rotating strikes to protest two years without a contract; Local 719, municipal workers in Woodstock, N.B. who’ve been locked and are fighting wage freezes and two-tier benefits; Local 873, B.C. Paramedics on strike for 120 days to fight draconian essential services legislation; Local 1,000 members with Erie-Thames Power on strike for 16 weeks to fight benefits concessions and in increase in their hours of work.

Paul Moist urged delegates to go back to their locals and make sure they provide financial support to these groups of workers, but, more importantly, to get out and support them on their picket lines.
