Action is required to support hundreds of protesters who face charges in the aftermath of last week’s protests at the WTO in Seattle. Up to 600 were arrested after peacefully demonstrating their opposition to the actions of the WTO and the threat that increased globalization represents to our future.

Police used strong arm tactics to clear the streets of peaceful protesters around the conference centre. Non-violent but resolute protesters 0063006f006dmitted to justice, democracy and a sustainable environment 007700650072e subjected to tear gas and rubber bullets, curfews and martial law.

Many were arrested for defying a n006f-protest’ zone that was proclaimed December 1 by a city administration in panic. Their civil and human rights were violated as they were brutalized, denied medical attention, food, water and access to legal counsel. All protestors should be released immediately and charges should be dropped.
