CUPE National President Judy Darcy visited Thunder Bay Monday July 13 to bring a national message of support to striking members of CUPE Local 87.

After eleven weeks on the picket lines, the municipal workers remain determined to negotiate a contract that provides for a fair wage increase and protection against contracting out.

“Our sisters and brothers in Thunder Bay are a perfect example of CUPE members on the front line of the fight to ensure quality public services for Canadians,” said Darcy. “Like the members of Local 87, many municipal workers across Canada have gone years without a wage increase and they are united in saying “enough is enough”.
