After saying we are being tested as a society and as a union, National President Judy Darcy told delegates democracy is alive, well and kicking in the Canadian Union of Public Employees.

In a ringing call to solidarity and militancy, she warned convention delegates about the threat of rising racism and intolerance in Canada and urged them to continue to move forward in defending public services and workers rights.

She also applauded CUPEs leadership in resisting the corporate agenda.

The privateers have identified CUPE as the Number One obstacle to their plans for profit, said Darcy. Im damn proud of that and we plan to keep up that fight.
