CUPE rep Gordon Black was parked at the Fredericton Motor Inn this week when a bus rammed into his Cupemobile.

The accident in itself wasnt news. Apparently Gordon has a reputation for being involved in car crashes. But the media were interested in the bus. It belongs to Canadian Alliance leader Stockwell Day.

Reporters were also curious about Gordons licence plate. The first three letters are G-A-F. That sounds like gaffe, Gordon said, and political gaffes are something Day seems to commit daily. Niagara Falls running north and attributing the wrong quote to British writer George Orwell are only two of Days latest gaffs.

Gordon wasnt hurt, by the way. He was inside bargaining for CUPEs New Brunswick Council of Nursing Homes. When asked by reporters if he was an Alliance supporter, he replied with an emphatic No.
