CUPE won a majority in the representation vote among hospital workers in Pembroke, Ontario, yesterday. With 340 voting, CUPE received 176 to 110 for the Steelworkers and 54 for the Allied Health Guild.

The vote was caused by the closure of the Pembroke Civic Hospital and the consolidation of services at the Pembroke General.

As a result of the vote, CUPE will gain 128 new members.
