CUPE members and staff attended the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) annual winter celebration dinner and dance last week, at the Ottawa convention centre. CUPE sponsored the event.

Those attending were treated to dinner, entertainment, and dancing. National Chief Shawn Atleo offered words of welcome to open the evening, and comedian Evan Adams acted as master of ceremonies.

The event featured performances by singer Aurora Jade Finkel, winner of the recent Canadian Aboriginal “We got talent” competition; comedian Ryan McMahon performing as Clarence Two Toes; and the legendary Andy Mason Band, winners of the Native ‘E’ Music Awards in 2008.
