Again this year, CUPE is proud to be a platinum sponsor of the Canadian Library Association (CLA) National Conference and Trade Show. CUPE is the union of choice for library workers. We represent approximately 22,000 library workers across Canada, or 62.5 per cent of all library workers in Canada.

The CLA Conference and Trade Show is being held at the Halifax World Trade and Convention Centre from May 25 to 28, 2011. CUPE will also have a booth on the floor of the Trade Show, which features publishers, professional services, information technology, and government services to the library community.

This year’s Conference will feature a town hall meeting where participants will discuss the future of the CLA. The Conference will include workshops and seminars along with the following meetings:

  • Canadian Association of Special Libraries and Information Services
  • Canadian Library Trustees Association
  • Canadian Association of College and University Libraries
  • Canadian Association of Public Libraries
  • Canadian Association for School Libraries

The CLA is a non-profit organization serving as the national voice of the Canadian library and information community. It was founded in 1946. CLA members work in college, university, public, special (corporate, non-profit, and government) and school libraries. Others sit on boards of public libraries, work for companies that provide goods and services to libraries, or are students in graduate level or community college programs.
