(Sydney) – In a set of contract talks that began in March of this year, CUPE has reached a tentative agreement with the Cape Breton Island Housing Authority.

CUPE National Representative John Evans says, “This is a first collective agreement on behalf of the 140 members of Local 4840, a group that we recently organized.

The local represents clerks, janitors, painters, maintenance and grounds persons with the Housing Authority,” he says.

A ratification vote will be held October 26 at 1:00 pm at the Grand Lake Rd. Fire Hall. No details will be released until after ratification.
