(Annapolis) Employees of the Municipality of the County of Annapolis have a new three-year contract.

CUPE Local 4549 represents nine employees who work in water treatment, waste water and other services.

Highlights of their first contract reached on July 5 include:

  • Wage increases, first year between 3% to 7%, second year 2.5% and third year 3%
  • Extended health care, dental and RRSP equally funded
  • Provisions covering hours of work, layoff/recall, grievance procedure
  • Sick leave
  • Job security language

CUPE National Representative Alex Somerville says both sides were able to reach a negotiated settlement, and avoid a disruption in service.
