CUPE Local 4974 has reached a tentative agreement in its contract talks with Miners Memorial Manor in Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia.

CUPE National Representative Kathy MacLeod says, “We were successful in negotiating our first collective agreement with this employer.”

Local President Kim Cluney says, “We are pleased with the deal we achieved and will be recommending acceptance to our members.  We are happy to have CUPE representing our interests in the workplace now.  It has made a big difference.”

A ratification vote is scheduled for July 20. CUPE represents approximately 50 employees, including Continuing Care Assistants, LPNs, dietary and housekeeping staff.

Details of the deal will be presented at the ratification meeting.
