(Windsor) Employees of the Municipality of the District of West Hants have a new, three-year contract.

CUPE Local 4522 represents nine employees who work in water treatment, landfill operations and other services.

Highlights of the first contract include:

  • Wage increases of .45 cents, .45 cents and .55 cents
  • Extended health care, dental and vision benefits
  • A clothing allowance
  • Provisions covering hours of work, layoff/recall, grievance procedure
  • Sick leave
  • Job security language

CUPE National Representative Alex Somerville says with the help of a conciliator both sides were able to reach a negotiated settlement, and avoid a disruption in service.
