VIKING, AB – Members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) who work at Extendicare Viking will hold an information picket line Monday at noon.

The employees of the long-term care facility are frustrated with the slow pace of negotiations with their employer, and the lack of government response to the Auditor General’s report on Long Term Care.

The Auditor General identified low wages as a key reason for the poor state of affairs in Alberta Senior’s homes,” said CUPE Alberta President D’Arcy Lanovaz. “The Government and Extendicare both need to work harder to address that problem.”
