CUPE will be well represented and very active at the Canadian Library Association’s upcoming Annual Conference and Trade Show, being held in Winnipeg from May 29 to June 1.

A dozen CUPE members and staff will be there to promote the important role libraries play raising the quality of life in our communities, and the positive role CUPE plays in the workplace. CUPE will have a trade show booth with information on CUPE’s presence in the library sector, and CUPE delegates will participate in a panel presentation and discussion on Saturday, June 1.

CUPE is also a Platinum Sponsor of the event, including the sponsorship of the opening keynote speech by Cory Doctorow, science fiction novelist, technology activist and co-editor of the popular weblog Boing Boing. Doctorow will be sharing his perspectives on the relationship between libraries and today’s multi-media technologies.

In advance of the CLA conference, CUPE’s National Library Committee will be meeting May 28 – 29 in Winnipeg.
