Fred Hahn, Secretary-Treasurer of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Ontario will join leaders of Thunder Bay area CUPE locals at a media conference to discuss key issues for the provincial election on October 10.

CUPE Ontario is pushing for a provincial government that will put people first and work to ensure that public services including schools, universities, health care, social services and municipal services are adequately funded to meet the needs of Ontarians,” says Hahn.

Hahn is in Thunder Bay to unveil and discuss CUPE Ontario’s extensive election campaign strategy with local leaders. In what is bound to be a provocative approach, the union’s campaign compares the track records of the Liberals and Conservatives on a number of key issues including the failure by both parties to fix the school funding formula.

At this media conference:

Date:  Friday, September 7, 2007
Time: 11:00 a.m.
Location: CUPE Thunder Bay Area Office
  79 Court Street North
  Suite 108

Hahn and local leaders will also identify key election issues including the need to address Ontario’s growing poverty, stop loss of jobs, reverse increasing inequity, defend public services and aggressively act now on climate change.
