ST. CATHARINES, ON. – CUPE Ontario president Sid Ryan will speak with area hospital workers about health care issues and CUPE’s efforts to strengthen and protect public health care services in Ontario at the Shaver/Rehab Hospital workers’ barbeque, tomorrow (Thursday, August 4th), at 12:00 noon. Mr. Ryan will talk about the advantages of CUPE membership as area hospital workers prepare to choose which union will represent them following the restructuring of Hotel Dieu and Niagara Health Systems.

“As hospital workers in the Niagara area prepare for a representation vote, I want them to know about the advantages of CUPE as Canada’s largest union, Canada’s biggest defender of public health care and Canada’s largest health care union,” said Ryan. “CUPE members are defending public health care across Canada and fighting privatization schemes put forward by governments interested in cutting health care budgets without regard for the quality of hospital services.”
