NIAGARA FALLS, Ont. – CUPE Ontario president Sid Ryan will release results of recent polling on Ontarians’ attitudes towards privatization of public services prior to the opening of the union’s 42nd annual convention here on Wednesday, May 25.

The McGuinty government is moving to privatize services, whether it’s through contracting out or through the public private partnerships (P3s) announced with the recent budget,” Ryan said. “Public money, taxpayers’ money, is going to private profit. And that’s wrong.”

Ryan and the CUPE Ontario executive board will release polling results at 12:30 p.m. in the Strategy 1 room, 5th level, Sheraton on the Falls. Hundreds of activists representing CUPE’s 210,000 Ontario members will meet here to debate an action plan on fighting privatization in every sector from health care and social services to education and municipalities.
